The 58th Session of Town Sharing Meeting | Interpreting Compliance Management and Exploring Diversified Development Paths Abroad
October 29, 2019

In recent years, more and more domestic private funds have set up overseas branches, issue overseas fund products or list overseas to lay out the international capital market. In order to help the settled institutions to "go out" better, on March 21, Beijing Fund Town held a special sharing session on "Key Laws and Regulations on Overseas Fund Establishment, Cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions and Compliance Operation of Private Funds".

Everton Robertson, partner of Maples and Calder LLP, and Wang Weiwei, legal manager, shared the key points of setting up a closed and corporate private fund in Cayman and the local requirements for private equity investment and financing and listing. Wang Wei, the founding partner of Merits & Tree Law Offices, combined with specific cases, analyzed the common characteristics of riskful or deferred private fundraising institutions and the corresponding legal consequences undertaken by the institution, and gave suggestions on compliance measures.
