The design and effective operation of the social security system have a long-term and profound impact on a country’s economic development and social stability. To explore how to reform and improve China’s social security system, it is necessary to review the past reform process and fully absorb the experience and lessons of developed countries.
On March 24, Institute of Economic Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the editorial office of Comparison and Beijing Fund Town jointly held the international seminar on "modernization of national governance and social security system".
Zhu Hengpeng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economic Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, expounded the reform of China’s social security system from the perspective of the modernization of the national governance system, with the topic of “pension and medical insurance for employees, adjustment or overall planning”.
Based on the background and practice of China’s social security policy making, Chen Jinfu, Deputy Director of the National Healthcare Security Administration, and Wang Xinxiang, Deputy Director of the Social Security Division of the Ministry of Finance commented on the keynote speech.
The forum is hosted by Zheng Bingwen, a member of the national committee of CPPCC and the Director of World Social Security Research Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Xu Lin, the former Director of the Finance Division and Development Planning Division of National Development and Reform Commission. Gao Peiyong, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a speech. Yang Zhou, the medical policy adviser of World Bank Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the fiscal reform expert of the Medicare program, participated in the communication. Experts and scholars attending the meeting said that in the future, China and the United States can conduct more cooperation and exchanges in social security system.
