A few days ago, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued Guidelines for Anti-monopoly in the Field of Platform Economy (Draft) and openly solicited revision opinions from the public. Based on defining the concept of platform, platform economy and other related terms, in-depth attention has been paid to anti-monopoly issues in the field of platform economy. It involves not only a series of frontier issues of law enforcement, but also a large number of law enforcement practice guidelines, which reflects the regulators' review and summary of competition and anti-monopoly issues in the field of Internet, especially Internet platforms, and their determination to carry out "scientific and effective" anti-monopoly supervision in such field. The release and launch of this draft will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the development of China's Internet platform economy.
On November 28, Beijing Fund Town, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University National Institute of Finance and Taxation, and the Comparative Studies editorial office jointly held a seminar on "Anti-monopoly Issues in Platform Economy".
Relevant leaders of the Office of the Central Finance and Economics Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation and experts and scholars from the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, University of Southern California, Lingnan University from Hong Kong, Renmin University of China, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Economic and Social Data Center of the Development Research Center of the State Council, and industry representatives from Alibaba, JD, Kuaishou, Didi and other platforms jointly discussed and shared their own research results and insights on platform economy and anti-monopoly policies. Opinions and suggestions on the above-mentioned draft were sorted out to provide reference for subsequent study.
Prior to this, Beijing Fund Town had held several seminars with cooperative institutions on platform competition, innovation and governance. A number of domestic and foreign experts and scholars including Jean Tirole, Nobel Memorial Prize winner in Economic Sciences and honorary dean of the Toulouse School of Economics, were invited to conduct discussions and exchanges to give a clearer picture of the development of China's digital economy to the industry and policy makers, and to study and solve related problems in the development of this field.
