Design of Rio Olympic Venue with respect to nature

Interpretation of design concept of the Beijing Fund Town

After several rounds of communication in early stage, on the basis of in-depth knowledge of location of Beijing Fund Town and local regions features, AECOM attempted to integrate fund industrial ecology and natural ecology of Changgou Spring Wetland, putting forward city design strategy of "taking mountains and waters as the framework, ecology as the base, culture as the venation, industry as orientation, landscape as the feature, municipal infrastructure as the guarantee". This strategy can be understood specifically as follows:

Taking mountains and waters as the framework: through various forms of water, ingenious water design, which looks connected while actually are separated, adding space layers by virtue of mountain landscape;

Taking ecology as the base: on a macro level, using water catchment to form impoundment wetland; on a medium level, achieving land control through ecology grass ditch; and on a micro level, designing rainwater park to reutilize rainwater;

Taking culture as the venation: absorbing elements of Chinese traditional culture, referring to Chinese traditional landscape-making methods, deducting neo Chinese style and natural and modern architecture scenes;
